Review of Mission Statement – Our mission is to protect and enhance the long-term ecological health
of the Sunrise River watershed through:
1) Identify issues through background research, collection, and analysis of data.
2) Communicate through networking, outreach, political action, and education.
3) Coordinate & implement appropriate action strategies.
We discussed ways we could promote the educational aspect of it. Could we be the “clearinghouse” for all activities taking place in the county pertaining to protecting and improving water quality; could we put ourselves into reporters roles and find facts on everyones’ chosen points of interest pertaining to water quality? Several points of interest were mentioned, including fecal coliform, P causing algal growth, legislation pertaining to water quality and protection, linking in to other water protection groups, TMDL, zoning, polluting sources in general. Our website should be a conduit for the above information. Peter suggested the website have a section devoted to “know your river”, and we could develop a photo journal of the river; what about geocaching on the river, or identifying recreation opportunities on the river to generate people’s interest in use of and protection of the river? We also talked about the kiosk idea for Kost Dam Park, but no decisions were made.
Annual Meeting – set for Thursday Apr 28th, either at the Sunrise Community Center of Amador Town Hall. When location is finalized Vicki will send an e-mail to all members, and put notices in local papers. Larry has obtained the movie “Troubled Waters” and we will show it after the business meeting.
March Meeting – Martha has spoken with David Tollberg/Craig Mell about giving us an update of recent and planned water quality activities in the county; she will check with them and see if our Mar 24th meeting will work for them. We also discussed having Laird Mork and Jerry Spetzman to come to give updates. Joyce will contact Laird, but we think it’s too much for one evening to also have Jerry speak.
Post meeting note – We moved the March meeting from Mar 24th to the 31st to accomodate Craig’s schedule. We will meet at the Sunrise Community Center at 6:30. Craig Mell, District Administrator, and Casey Thiel, Water Resource Specialist, for Chisago County SWCD, will come and give us an update of water quality activities within the county. Laird will provide Joyce an update to share, or attend if he becomes available. Vicki will send an e-mail to all members, and put notices in local papers.
River and Road Clean-ups – We discussed having the road clean-up Apr 30th and the river clean-up May 21st; will decide next meeting for sure.
T-shirts with our new logo – Post meeting notes on T-shirts from Jean (THANK YOU JEAN!):
To print with two colors, as is our design, there is a set up of 38.00
(19.00 per color). This would be reduced to 7.00 if we reordered within
3 years.
Colored shirts cost $1.00 more each than white. Made in America shirts
are an additional $1.00 more. There are additional charges if we print
on two sides of the t-shirt.
Lester also mentioned that if we choose a dark color for the shirt, the
yellow may need a second printing to cover, for an additional charge of
50 cents. (not reflected in prices below)
Therefore, for our design on a colored, American-made, t-shirt here’s
the pricing for the shirts (first column) we would add the $38.00 set
up to the total shirt charge. The second column is for a logo
printed on the other side of the shirt. If it’s a different size, than
there would be another 38.00 set up charge. (If it’s exactly the same
it would not be the pricing below. Let’s deal with that if we need to!)
6-11 shirts $10.70 each …+4.70 (2nd side print)
12-23 shirts $8.90 each …+2.90 (2nd side print)
24-49 shirts $8.00 each …+2.30 (2nd side print)
50-99 shirts $7.35 each …+1.65 (2nd side print)
and more…..
Embroidery is another ball game. It is a little more expensive and
determined by the size (stitch count) of the image. Generally, a heart
crest size image would cost $5-10 PLUS the cost of the shirt
(…American made, colored=$2.00). If you sized it correctly it could
also be used for caps, etc. This pricing would be for 3 or 4 doz.
pc. Larger quantities would cost less. There is also an initial
digitizing charge (to translate your art to a file the machine can
use.) That is usually $40- 90 depending on the complexity of the image
and stitch count.(our design is on the low end for complexity) This is
a one time charge in case you would want to reorder.
