6/23/11 Board Meeting Minutes

The June Board meeting was held Thursday June 23rd at the Royal Wilcox Community Center in Sunrise. Lynne Kolze, Civic Engagement Coordinator, MN Pollution Control Agency, and Jerry Spetzman, Water Resource Manager, Chisago County Department of Environmental Services and Zoning, were our guests. Lynne works in the watershed section of MPCA, and promotes citizen participation in watershed projects. She wants us to be aware that they are available to work with us on projects in the future. Jerry encouraged us to participate in the proposed PICKM Alliance (Pine, Isanti, Chisago, Kanabec, Mille Lacs coalition of lake & river associations). The Alliance will provide lake & river associations in the 5 county PICKM area an opportunity to share experiences, resources & knowledge. There is an evening supper meeting on Thursday, October 6 to discuss the Alliance in more detail. The meeting will be hosted by the Pokegama Lake Association in Pine County. We could send 4 people to this meeting.
Proposed date for river clean-up is Aug 20th, and Jam at the Dam Sept 17th.
